Training for SCHKM – Week 1

I started running again on Thursday after resting for three straight days after the Standard Chartered Marathon. Legs still feel a tab heavy so it was just an easy recovery 10km run from my house to Jurong Lake Park and back at an average pace of 5:25″/km. Feel good to finally sweat and work the legs after resting for a few days.

For the weekend long run, Jackie and I decided to join Eileen, Claude and Peyling at Sentosa on Sunday morning because we overslept on Saturday. It has been ages since we last visited the undulating terrains. Initially, the plan was to clock between 15 km to 17 km. Peyling who is also training for HK marathon joined us for the run too.

My Garmin had difficulty catching the satellite that morning, so I ended up running without the GPS. We started slowly from Tanjong Beach and soon began picking up the pace from 3km onwards. The first loop, which was around 10km feels good and comfortable so we decided to repeat the same loop to clock close to 20km.

Distance: 19.3km, time: 1hr 37mins, average pace: 5min/km.

I am quite pleased with the long run as we not only manage to clock close to 20km, we also managed to keep up and run faster than the targeted pace. =)

Total Mileage for Week One (8 Dec-14 Dec): Approx. 30km
